the tree house
The private dwelling occupies a site on a very steep slope, dropping away from a residential highway. Road level is met by a closed, single storey, timber-clad façade, beyond which the building shows its extroverted side toward the open countryside beyond. The site topography leaves the upper, living floor mid-way up to the canopy of mature woodland beyond.
Considerable RC works were required to retain the existing roadway and bring the structure down to bearing strata. Various materials and constructions were adopted to allow the Architectural aspirations to be realised throughout the building.
