the black prince
Internationally renowned artist and sculptor Judy Boyt commissioned MLDE to provide advice, specifications and analysis for a new landmark sculpture in Morpeth.

The 1.5 times life sized sculpture was to be of the first Aberdeen Angus Bull and named The Black Prince. The sculpture progressed from a small maquette through a full sized clay sculpture to a specially crafted plaster mould and finally the fibre reinforced polymer shell constructed around a steel armature. The sculpture is bolted down through concealed fixings in three of the four hooves to sit over a glass canopy at the entrance to the new development.
